They certainly should be used – in moderation and certainly not to humiliate, and with that in mind I post this.
A friend, who asked not to be named, could not believe what he had read that very morning regarding his claim for benefit. He has worked long and hard years, paid all his taxes, NI contributions. Yet he is now a welfare scrounger. One of not his own making – yet still in need of financial help, though as I say, quite perturbed that he cannot get the kind of extensive help that he thought would head his way by default. Though I have said, on many occasions; you cannot adjust/make new laws that only effect those in society whom you feel should be attacked. Some RedTops and other news outlets may wish to influence public opinion in such fields – though, again, they claim different – but you cannot. All of our society will be effected by what parliament enacts. And with that in mind you may feel that a slob with 15 kids and a new Sky subscription should receive no benefit whatsoever, but you, the hard working lower middle class/working class guy gal should get more …
Yet still you look at those who are more impoverished than you are now. You do not look at where the real blame is and has come from. Look in the mirror and you will see your self. It is you who has called for such draconian laws and now that you are subjected to them you want them changed, again in your favour. Why? Is that the humanity and tolerance that you espouse while not knowing one thing at all about the heroin addict whom you wish to be put on the streets or ‘clean themselves up and get a job!’. Is it the young woman that is personified on daytime TV, acted out as such a welfare scrounger because she is eking out existence. A newspaper told you that this morning so it must be true.
There needs to be a new deal in the offing. Draconian law is not it.
