Hazel Blears is brain dead!

“My hope is that the public’s response to the crisis of legitimacy characterising our politics will be as constructive as at the moments of fulcrum in our democratic development: when rejection of the Rotten Boroughs led to the Reform Acts, or when women’s demands led to us getting the vote.

“I am optimistic that the long, loud howl of outrage at the state of our politics can find practical expression through positive reform of the political system.”

Speaking English is always an option.

  1. ajehals says:

    I don’t see any problem with that…

It could be clearer, but it is perfectly readable and easy enough to understand. Is there something I am missing?

I should probably also add that its appropriateness is more down to its intended audience than anything else (and even then we complain about politicians using ‘sound bites’ and ‘dumbing down’).

  2. Will Rhodes says:

I take it that you read the BBC piece, Ajehals?

    That quotation was before this:

Caroline Spelman said: “Hazel Blears talks about community empowerment to combat recession. This is exactly what David Cameron and the Conservative Party have been calling for for years.

“Unfortunately the government record is completely at odds with today’s warm words.”

Hence – I stand by what I said.

Warm words in a recession as the one in the UK – you don’t need warm words – you need decisive action.

By all means, leave your 2 bobs worth
