Can Al Gore change hearts and minds in the battle of climate change?

Flying isn’t one of Al Gore’s favourite things to do – is it?

Al Gore wings it to Chicago to speak with Barack Obama. What that conversation will be about is quite obvious – but will it mean that Gore will return to government?

That’s a strong possibility – after all, Gore said he would never return. That isn’t always the end game in politics and it could well mean that Gore is put in charge on the environment. Well the American policy on the environment. Will this be his perfect job? That, again, could be – he is passionate about climate change and getting US policy right.

Gore’s high profile visit to Chicago, Illinois, to meet Obama and Biden is raising eyebrows, even among some of Gore’s close advisers.

“The Gore trip is for more than just a chat,” a close friend of Gore told CNN’s John King. “He wouldn’t burn that much carbon flying to Chicago just to talk.”

Why couldn’t he drive? And a hybrid at that?

I hope he doesn’t come back.

  2. Matt says:

Mark, that’s not a very nice thing to say about the man who invented the internet… LOL

“he wouldn’t burn that much carbon just to talk” That was a great line in this post. It is hard to think of all of these people becoming a part of Obama’s team. Should Gore take this position, is he also going to head up the broadband internet expansion?? If he does, he might be calling himself out as not being the inventor of the internet…. I really dislike the internet exansion idea. I Think it will hurt jobs more than help it- internet service providers that are coming out (new one in Portland, for example)are going to lose business on selling their service.

Good question you ask, there. I hope at least he took a commercial flight. Obama is, naturally enough, surrounding himself with political rock stars.

  5. Will Rhodes says:

He needs to, Muse. Especially after the last shower.

By all means, leave your 2 bobs worth
