Retired Generals call for repeal of Don't ask don't tell…

Openly gay people should be allowed to serve.

There is breaking news coming out of the US (CNN) that over 100 generals and key retired staff are asking that the don’t ask don’t tell law/directive be repealed.

Just another one of the many things that Obama will have to look at when he takes office.

Will this be looked at with any urgency by Barack Obama – I don’t think it will, but there is a possibility that it could become a head ache for him with the great amount of demonstrations about Pro 8.

Man, I can’t believe I forgot about that – especially with the ire surrounding Prop 8’s passage.

Totally agree – we need all the people who want to serve in the military to serve. Just another sector of society where gays are demonized.

What are people going to say – “there are no fags in foxholes”?

LOL Now you have a point – I wouldn’t care what sexuality someone had who was protecting me from bombs and bullets.

  3. George says:

Great idea! Let’s make it even tougher for the military to meet its recruiting quotas!

  4. John C. Randolph says:

DADT was one of Bill Clinton’s biggest screw-ups in office. Harry Truman heard all the same arguments against desegregation, and he basically said “I’m the commander-in-chief, and it’s an order”.

Ending discrimination in the military is certainly one of the prerogatives of the President. Let’s hope Obama has the guts to do it.

By all means, leave your 2 bobs worth
