Unless a voter brings them up

Questions, that is.

As has become overwhelmingly apparent – McCain is beginning to make the headlines – this is something I applaud. It is about time that McCain was put front and centre.

Now the questions can start – the real questions that is, not stump questions that are scripted for him, real question that people want to ask.

McCain, as far as I can see, read and have heard – isn’t a religious man, but now he turns to religion. He does need the religious right to help him. We see that he is totally pro-life, odd that. But he says he is – so he will be repealing Roe Vs Wade as president. At least we know that is something he will do. What other part of the 14th Amendment will he change? Or will he strip the 14th Amendment completely?

McCain recounted the tale of being offered early release by his captors, and turning it down because of military code, a decision he knew would lead to brutal beatings and solitary confinement.

“It took a lot of prayer,” he told Warren. “It took a lot of prayer.”

He also told a story about one prison guard who quietly drew a cross in the sand in front of McCain one Christmas, before quickly erasing it with his foot and moving on.

That isn’t a lie is it? Not something else had happened to them? Solzhenitsyn? I am sure………but I must be wrong.

A religious man would blatantly lie like that, not only to the American people, but in a Church?

Oh!

Dear!

Me!

  1. leapsecond says:

Repealing Roe v. Wade is terrible! Making moral beliefs legislature is a dangerous thing indeed and puts us one step closer to fascism or, somehow worse, a theocracy.

  2. Will Rhodes says:

Seems that old John wants just that, Brett – I will have to start calling you Reverend soon.

Can you imagine – John “Maverick” McCain kissing the arse of the intolerant right?

Where is Falwell when you need him?

  3. leapsecond says:

Dead, but Rush Limbaugh has effectively taken his place.

You might want to fix your Del.icio.us link on the side of your page…

  4. anglhugnu2 says:

I must come to the defense of the Reverand Falwell….The comment that Limbaugh has effectively taken his place is pure rubbish. To say that Limbaugh is the next Falwell is to claim that Jesse Jackson became filled the gap left by Martin Luther King. BUT, if you want to say that Limbaugh has filled the shoes of Jackson…you will get no argument from me.

  5. leapsecond says:

YOU DEFEND FALWELL? Here are a couple quotes:

“AIDS is not just God’s punishment for homosexuals; it is God’s punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.”

“The idea that religion and politics don’t mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country.”

    Nice… And now Rush Limbaugh:

“They oughtta change Black History Month to Black Progress Month and start measuring it.”

“”There are more acres of forestland in America today than when Columbus discovered the continent in 1492.””

Yeah, both are pretty stupid. I admit, though, Limbaugh comes nowhere near the idiocy of Falwell.

  6. anglhugnu2 says:

    Ummm…I was joking!

Fallwell, Limbaugh, Jackson….they all seek one thing….for someone to say they matter…and, if no one will say it…they will keep talking crap until you say it so you can actually get them out of the house.

Actually, there is really no measure for the level of pomp-ass-ity Limbaugh provides the listener. tuning him off my radio I often compare to my flushing the toilet.

Its funny how the audience that follows him have not figured out how the show is really ALL about Limbaugh. He even tells them that its all about him…and yet they still listen. He knows the Republicans need someone to be funny and say they are a conservative……He plays the Republicans like a fiddle….BUT, only a limited few would jump off a roof for him.

My proof….there is no republican candidate that would publically seek his endorsement or support. “George I” tried for about a week in his campaign against Clinton…..dropped him like a stone….no credibility among the influential electorate is simply no influence at all.

By all means, leave your 2 bobs worth
