It has had me thinking for a while now as to why CNN has, shall we say, gone more to the right than before.
I am an avid watcher of CNN – I like, or should say liked, what they put out. Then I saw, just after McCain whined that he wasn’t getting the same amount of air-time as Obama, there was a shift toward McCain and his camp. I saw that things were looking decidedly rosy for him, none of the gaffes, none of the history – just a focus on Obama that wasn’t exactly enlightening.
I thought about it and came to the conclusion that it was their way of making it balanced, give McCain as much time and show him for who he is – playing fair and the like. Then, after a while, whereas other news networks were picking up on what McCain and his entourage were doing, CNN didn’t report it – in fact it became a little bit obvious that they were looking a bit anti-Obama. Playing up what had gone on in the primaries rather than the news of the day.
Then I read this:
both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. We also noted that CBS’s political coverage is sponsored by ExxonMobil. Now, it appears that National Journal has also opened its doors to Big Oil sponsorship, announcing on its website that its coverage of the 2008 conventions will be “presented by ExxonMobil”
We KNOW that John McCain is in the pocket of the big oil companies – but is it this blatant?
I will let you make your own minds up about that one.
